New Hampshire Letter Of Intent

Notify the School District of Your Decision To Homeschool

If you have decided to homeschool your child then you must send a letter of intent to the district superintendent notifying them of your decision. Send this letter within 5 business days of beginning to homeschool.

NOTE: It is best to send this notice to your district superintendent, but it may also be sent to the NH Commissioner of Education or a non-public school principle.

Follow these steps to fill out and send a letter of intent:

  1. Copy and paste the sample New Hampshire Letter of Intent below into a new document.
  2. Fill in the brackets with your personal information.
  3. Print 2 copies (one for the superintendent and one for your records).
  4. Mail a signed copy of your letter to the superintendent by certified mail.

Ed 315.04(a), this letter serves to notify you of the home education program for

We look forward to receiving your written acknowledgement. Should you have any
questions or comments, we can be reached at the above address and phone number.

We do not authorize the release of any information contained in this notice
except as specifically provided by law. By this notice we are not waiving our
rights under the United States and/or New Hampshire constitution as amended.

requires written parental consent prior to such disclosure.

Please note that curriculum information is no longer a required home education
program notification component pursuant to HB406 (effective May 12, 2006) and
Ed 315.04. Notification shall include only the following:
(a) name, address, and birth date of the child participating in the home
education program;
(b) beginning date of the home education program; and
(c) name, address, and telephone number of parent(s).
