If your child is already attending a public school then you need to officially withdraw them in order to homeschool. Use this Official Student Withdrawal Letter to notify your child’s school.
Follow these simple steps to officially withdraw your child.
- Copy and paste the Official Student Withdrawal Letter below in a new document to print (or download, print, and fill out our PDF version).
- Enter your personal information in the brackets and print 2 copies (one for the school and one for your records).
- Mail a signed copy of your letter to your child’s school using Certified Mail return receipt requested.

[Name(s) of child(ren) being withdrawn from public school]
Dear [Name of Principal],
This letter is to notify you that I will be withdrawing the above children from [name of school] on [date of withdrawal]. As of this date they will be homeschooled at the above address. If you have any questions, please send them to me in writing. Thank you.
